Liverpool are fighting Inter for the signature of Bayern Munich midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri, but reports suggest the Reds have the upper hand.
Italian side Inter are said to be desperate to sign Xherdan Shaqiri from Bayern Munich, but it appears that Liverpool are in a stronger position.
The Swiss international has been frustrated by a lack of first-team football in Bavaria and is widely expected to move on, possibly sooner rather than later.
It is being suggested that Liverpool are ready to bid £12.5 million for Shaqiri’s services, but Inter aren’t ready to admit defeat with new boss Roberto Mancini looking to overhaul his squad, having already brought in Arsenal’s Lukas Podolski.
It is believed that Inter can only manage around £1.6 million for the right to take Shaqiri on loan until the end of the season and then a fee of £12 million paid over three years.
Bayern are said to be much more keen on receiving the money up front from Liverpool than a series of payments from Inter.
However, the complication may lie in Shaqiri’s wishes. There have been reports that he is hoping for a move to Inter instead of Liverpool, which could make things tough for the Reds.
It is possible that Shaqiri may reject Liverpool in the hope that Bayern will make do with Inter’s offer, but that could leave the player stranded on the sidelines in Germany.
