According to Italian TV station Sport Mediaset, Liverpool made a summer move for Italian international Mattia De Sciglio – and AC Milan could now extend his contract.
Much has been made of Liverpool’s situation at left back; Alberto Moreno continues to struggle two years on from his move from Sevilla, and Jurgen Klopp has few other options at his disposal, meaning midfielder James Milner currently serves as the Reds’ first-choice left back.

There was some surprise when the transfer deadline passed without Liverpool bringing in another left back, but it seems that the Reds did at least try to bring a new face in to the club.
Italian TV station Sport Mediaset report that Liverpool made an approach to sign AC Milan ace Mattia De Sciglio during the summer transfer window, but were rebuffed in their attempts to sign him.

De Sciglio, 23, was born in Milan and has come up through the ranks with his hometown club, making more than 100 appearances since his debut back in 2011.
An Italian international with 27 caps to his name, De Sciglio has long been touted for a bright future, but has yet to really fulfil his potential after some injuries halted his progress with Milan.

Regardless, it’s claimed that Liverpool were keen to sign De Sciglio – who has experience of playing at left back and right back – along with Milan’s Serie A rivals Juventus and Napoli, but all approaches for De Sciglio were rebufffed.
It’s even added that Milan are now readying a contract offer to keep De Sciglio at the San Siro, meaning he may be a name to cross off Klopp’s list of potential transfer targets for January and beyond.
