According to Sport Bild, Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria has switched agent – sparking suggestions of a summer move.

It’s claimed that Zakaria will now be represented by the LIAN Sports agency, with managing director Damir Smoljan now advising Zakaria moving forward.

The report notes that Liverpool want to sign him, but Real Madrid are now prepared to challenge the Reds for his signature.

Gladbach don’t want to sell, and would demand more than the €45million they received for Granit Xhaka in 2016. There is no release clause in Zakaria’s deal.

This move has though sparked fears that he is gearing up to leave. Zakaria’s deal expires in 2022, so at least Gladbach don’t have to worry about that just yet.

Still, it would be understandable if his head were to be turned by interest from Liverpool and Real. They’re global powerhouses and can offer consistent Champions League football, something he may not get with Gladbach.

Another note for Liverpool is that LIAN Sports also represent a current Reds player. Marko Grujic is on the LIAN Sports roster, so Liverpool have had prior dealings with them.

Whether that would help or hinder them remains to be seen, but if Jurgen Klopp wants to sign Zakaria, he’ll have to beat Real Madrid.
