RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner scores against Freiburg
According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool are interested in snapping up RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner this summer as Jurgen Klopp looks to boost his squad.
The Reds have seen their title challenge fall apart in 2017, but Sunday’s 2-1 home win over Burnley keeps Klopp’s men in the box seat for a Champions League place, ahead of both Arsenal and Manchester United.
Whether Liverpool are in the top four or not come the end of the season, manager Klopp will be looking for major reinforcements to boost his squad, given how thin his side has been this term.
Now, the Daily Mail report that Liverpool have turned their attention to RB Leizpig’s Timo Werner, as Klopp looks to bring in another striker to challenge with Roberto Firmino and Divock Origi, with any striker surely being viewed as a replacement for out-of-favour Daniel Sturridge.
Werner, 21, left Stuttgart upon their relegation from the Bundesliga last season, joining newly-promoted RB Leipzig in an exciting move from Germany’s most controversial club.
The pacey attacker, who lives on the shoulder of the last defender, has proven just why he was billed as one of Germany’s top young talents, scoring 14 goals in just 23 appearances this season.

Werner is a Germany Under-21 international destined for the senior squad, and Liverpool boss Klopp will certainly be aware of the top talents in his homeland, with Werner fitting the bill – though it’s unclear just how much RB Leipzig would require in order to sell their star attacker.
Whilst Klopp has allegedly been watching RB Leipzig duo Naby Keita and Emil Forsberg, it seems that a third player from the Bundesliga club is on Liverpool’s wish list as the club eye up a summer deal for Werner.
