Liverpool, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur are among the Premier League clubs who have watched Hungary’s Red Bull Salzburg star Dominik Szoboszlai in November, according to 90Min.

And you would imagine a growing crop of suitors will have been very impressed by what they have seen from one of Europe’s most upwardly mobile central midfielders.

After helping fire Salzburg to yet another Austrian Bundesliga title with 12 goals and 18 assists last term, Szoboszlai has taken his game to a whole new level in 2020/21.

The 20-year-old playmaker caused Bayern Munich no end of problems during a thrilling Champions League clash a fortnight ago and, on Thursday, scribed his name into Hungarian football folklore alongside the legendary Ferenc Puskas and Sandor Kocsis.

It was Szoboszlai’s stunning last-gasp effort which secured Hungary’s place at Euro 2020 at Iceland’s expense.

Such moments of match-winning magic will have made the £23 million release clause in Szoboszlai’s contract look all the more tempting too (Gazzetta).

Arsenal have been watching the Budapest-born starlet since 2019 but, having failed to tie up a deal over the summer, Mikel Arteta and co now have one hell of a battle on their hands with Liverpool, Tottenham, Everton, Wolves and Leicester all joining the race.

That is without mentioning Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.

A prolific goalscorer from midfield and a master of set-pieces, it seems only a matter of time before Szoboszlai becomes the latest player to graduate from the esteemed Salzburg finishing school.

The Austrian champions have sold Erling Haaland, Takumi Minamino and Hwang Hee-Chan this year alone.
