According to Bild, Liverpool are now in a three-club race to sign RB Leipzig colossus Dayot Upamecano along with Chelsea and Bayern Munich.
The Germans news outlet state that the Frenchman has a €42.5 million (£37.3 million) release clause in his contract with the Bundesliga outfit.
As a result, no agreement will be required with RB Leipzig, as clubs can directly approach the player if this clause is triggered.
Bild say that Upamecano is Jurgen Klopp’s dream signing.
They add that Liverpool chose to spend as little cash as possible in January, so that they could invest heavily this summer.

While it seems likely that the Reds can afford to meet the €42.5 million (£37.3 million) fee, they will have to fend off serious interest from Chelsea and Bayern Munich.
However, if Klopp can get his hands on the 22-year-old, he will have a seriously bright prospect on his hands.
For those of you wondering what type of player the RB Leipzig No.5 is, the Bundesliga’s official website made an interesting comparison.

They liken Upamecano to ex-Chelsea and France star Marcel Desailly, and cite the fact he is ‘solid, reliable’ and ‘immovable’ as comparable traits to the iconic centre-back.
A centre-back pairing of Virgil van Dijk and Upamecano, with Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold either side of them, simply isn’t fair on the opposition.
Add Alisson Becker behind them, and Klopp could have arguably the best backline in Europe – on paper, at least.
