After Virgil van Dijk, could Premier League giants Liverpool break another world record to sign Napoli’s Serie A powerhouse Koulibaly?

Liverpool have enquired about a potential deal to sign Napoli’s coveted centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly, according to Il Mattino.
Despite winning the Champions League last month, Jurgen Klopp’s side are unlikely to rest on their laurels as they look to go one better and become the dominant force in English football for the first time in 30 years.
And the common consensus is that another world class defender would take The Reds to the next level. Virgil van Dijk is arguably the best around right now but Joe Gomez is injury prone and Dejan Lovren is expected to leave.
Joel Matip has enjoyed a fine 2019 but he can surely be improved upon. And Koulibaly would certainly represent a substantial upgrade.
Alongside Van Dijk, Sadio Mane’s Senegal team-mate can lay claim to being the world’s supreme centre-half.

And Il Mattino state that Liverpool have made contact with Koulibaly’s agent, Fali Ramadani, who has told them that a deal is ‘not impossible’.
Liverpool will have to break the world record transfer for a defender for the second year in a row with Napoli demanding around £100 million. But Il Mattino suggests that such a staggering price-tag has not put the Merseyside giants off just yet with negotiations possible in the next few weeks.
