According to the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool have completely given up their pursuit of Fulham youngster Ryan Sessegnon – and believe he will now be signing for Tottenham.
Sessegnon, who turned 17 earlier this month, has emerged as one of the country’s top young players during his time with Fulham, having come up through the ranks at Craven Cottage.

The teenager enjoyed a stunning first campaign in the Championship this past season, notching five goals and three assists for the Cottagers, whilst he also added two goals in three FA Cup games.
Sessegnon has unsurprisingly attracted the interest of Premier League giants, but the Liverpool Echo claim that Liverpool are giving up their pursuit of the left back, who can also play on the left of midfield.

It’s stated that whilst Liverpool had hoped to bring Sessegnon to Anfield this summer, they were left unconvinced by his commitment to join the Reds, and have now completely pulled out of the race for his signature.
The report adds that Liverpool now fully expect Sessegnon to join Premier League rivals Tottenham instead, with Mauricio Pochettino’s men allegedly set to win the race for the youngster.

A move to Spurs appears ideal; the club have focused on developing young English players such as Eric Dier, Dele Alli and Harry Kane in recent years, whilst it also allows him to stay in London.
Pochettino’s 3-4-2-1 system that he so regularly used this past season also lends itself to Sessegnon eventually taking over from Danny Rose as the left wing back, offering similar pace and attacking threat – and there are few better coaches for him to develop under than Pochettino right now.
