Liverpool have now edged even closer to signing Ozan Kabak from Schalke, the Daily Mail suggest.
Liverpool are pressing ahead with a move to bring Kabak to the club, and he will undergo a medical in Germany once a fee has been agreed.
The Mail claim that the Reds are growing increasingly optimistic that they will be able to strike the deal for much cheaper than first thought too.
Kabak has a £35 million release clause in his contract which teams were required to pay not too long ago, but now the price seems to be set at £16 million.
Jurgen Klopp’s side will initially sign the 20-year-old on loan for a fee of £1.5 million, with an option to make the deal permanent in the summer. Kabak will reportedly demand wages of around £80,000-a-week.
The move means looks a good one for Liverpool as they will sign one of their long-term targets ahead of schedule.
The Reds are in dire need of central defenders, with their injury problems stacking up, and Klopp’s side now look as if they are going to significantly bolster their defensive ranks today, with Ben Davies also set to arrive.
