Sky Sports claim that Divock Origi is now ‘highly unlikely’ to leave Liverpool this month, with Jurgen Klopp’s side now set to keep him around.
The Athletic claimed that Liverpool would not stand in his way if an offer was made for the Belgian this month, with the Daily Mail suggesting that he was valued at £20 million.
However, Sky feel that Liverpool now have decided that they want to keep Origi at the club.
Origi may not have played much this season, but Klopp may now be loathed to lose another attacking option, with his side not in full flow.
Liverpool haven’t looked the attacking threat that they once were in recent weeks, and they drew a blank against Southampton in their last game.
While Origi seems unlikely to start any time soon, he could come into the equation if Liverpool’s regular starters don’t begin to fire soon.
Diogo Jota is also currently out injured, which means that if Origi was to be let go, Liverpool could be left short in the attacking areas.
That all may well be on Klopp’s mind, and his new stance of keeping Origi until the end of the season may just be a smart move.
