Rangers have been linked with a move to bring Ryan Kent to Ibrox.
According to The Times, Liverpool could offload Ryan Kent on a permanent basis this summer amid strong links with a move to Rangers.
Kent, 21, has come up through the ranks with the Reds having first joined back in 2003, but has made just one first-team appearance for the club having spent most of his time out on loan.
The winger had spells with Coventry City and Barnsley before heading to Bristol City in January, but a dismal spell there means he has now returned to Anfield this summer.
The Times now report that Liverpool are looking to raise funds by selling fringe players like Simon Mignolet and Daniel Sturridge, but Kent is also listed as a player who may well be sold.
At nearly 22, Liverpool may feel that Kent is just a little short of being a future first-team player, and one club who should be interested in the developments is Rangers, given that Goal reported recently that the Gers are keen on signing Kent.
New manager Steven Gerrard has already called in a favour from his former club to land midfielder Ovie Ejaria on loan, and striking a permanent deal for Kent may be ideal.
Despite landing Jamie Murphy permanently and Scott Arfield on a free transfer, adding a winger with pace should be a priority for Gerrard, and Kent certainly fits the bill, whilst having a permanent home and regular playing time at Ibrox would surely aid his development.
New Rangers coach Michael Beale hailed Kent as a ‘fantastic’ player in 2017 (Sky Sports), and he and Gerrard may be able to get the best out of him, with a permanent move to Glasgow potentially ideal for all at this stage in the wide man’s career.
