Liverpool could demand a buy-back clause in any deal for Caoimhin Kelleher amid links to Tottenham Hotspur.

Caoimhin Kelleher could leave Liverpool this summer but the Reds could ask for a buy-back clause.

That is according to The Athletic, who claim that Kelleher would be more likely to be sold than loaned out.

It’s highlighted that Kelleher is one of Liverpool’s few saleable assets this summer and the Reds could cash in.

Yet with Kelleher still highly rated inside Liverpool, the Reds are expected to ‘explore’ the possibility of a buy-back clause.

That would give Liverpool the chance to bring Kelleher back to Anfield down the line, possibly as the eventual replacement for Alisson.

Kelleher is currently sat behind Alisson and wants to play first-team football to progress in his career.

The buy-back idea makes sense for Liverpool but other clubs may not be so keen.

Tottenham Hotspur unlikely to fancy Caoimhin Kelleher buy-back clause

The Irish Independent reported earlier this month that Tottenham have joined the race for Kelleher.

Spurs are likely to be in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer with Hugo Lloris potentially on his way out.

Kelleher is thought to be on Tottenham’s wish list and the Daily Mail claimed just last week that he can go for around £15million.

However, it’s hard to imagine Tottenham agreeing to Liverpool’s terms.

Daniel Levy won’t love the idea of Liverpool being able to swoop in and take a Tottenham player for a set price, especially if Kelleher impresses.

The 24-year-old has impressed when given a chance for Liverpool and the time has come for more first-team action.

Kelleher has been hailed as ‘outstanding’ by Jurgen Klopp but the first-team opportunities just aren’t there for him right now.

Other clubs are interested too with Brentford as well as Brighton and Hove Albion keen on Kelleher.

Whether those clubs would be open to the buy-back idea remains to be seen but Kelleher faces a big summer as he considers moving on.
