Liverpool could change their mind about selling Gini Wijnaldum if a sizeable offer were to come in for the player, according to a report.

The Guardian has claimed that the Premier League champions are reluctant to sell their energetic midfielder, but they are bracing themselves for bids from Barcelona.

Former Everton boss, Ronald Koeman, who managed Wijnaldum on the international stage, has been tasked to pick up the almighty rubble caused by Bayern Munich’s 8-2 thrashing of Barcelona in the Champions League last month.

It seems as the Catalan giants, who may well lose their iconic figure in Lionel Messi this summer, need drastic surgery and they see Wijnaldum as an individual who can help them get back on their feet.

It’s quite clear that Wijnaldum is highly-appreciated at Anfield, and in 2019, Jurgen Klopp did label the player as ‘perfect’, as he told the club’s official website.

Losing the technically-gifted Dutchman is a clear no-no for the 2020 Premier League champions and the 2019 European champions.

Liverpool’s trophies under Jurgen Klopp

  1. Champions League

    2018/19

  2. UEFA Super Cup

    2019

  3. FIFA Club World Cup

    2019

  4. Premier League

    2019/20

But it seems as though those on Merseyside may have no choice but to sit up and listen if those squabbling over Messi in the Barca boardroom put an offer on the table worth looking at for Liverpool’s midfielder.

There’s no doubt that Wijnaldum is one of the most underrated midfield players in England’s top-flight and he is a player Klopp cannot afford to lose.

One thing is for sure, if the Reds have to part ways with their player then they will make sure it’s not going to be on the cheap.
