According to The Athletic, Harvey Elliott could return to first-team training in January as he looks to bounce back from his ankle injury.

The teenager dislocated his ankle against Leeds United back in September, and initially, it looked like a rather serious issue.

However, in recent weeks we’ve seen footage and images of Elliott working in the gym and on the grass, and it seems as though the teenager could be back in action sooner rather than later.

The Athletic claim that he could be back in team training in January, and that’s a huge boost for Liverpool.

Let’s not forget that Elliott had secured a spot in Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI before he was struck down by Pascal Struijk at Elland Road, and upon his return, he may well slot straight back in.

Liverpool will need all the depth they can get as the title race heats up, and having a player who has been labelled as ‘frightening’ back in the fold will be a real boost.

Fingers crossed the teenager can avoid any injuries in the future and his development from here on in can be smooth as this is a player who looks absolutely destined for the top.
