The Reds are reportedly looking to fight Roma and Napoli for the 24-year-old.

Liverpool are mulling over a summer move for Torino full-back Davide Zappacosta, according to TMW.

Jurgen Klopp is thought to be looking for reinforcements in most positions in the transfer widow as he looks to bolster his squad ahead of what will hopefully be a season of improvement next term.

One area that needs addressing is the wide defensive positions.

James Milner is now the de facto first-choice left-back at Anfield despite playing the vast majority of his career as a midfielder, whilst behind regular right-back Nathaniel Clyne there is little cover, aside from talented youngsters such as Trent Alexander-Arnold.

According to TMW, Klopp has identified Zappacosta as a high-quality affordable option from Europe to bolster his options.

It is easy to see why Zappacosta is an attractive target. The 24-year-old has age on his side, can play on both sides of defence, and is a full twice-capped Italian international.

He has previously been linked with a Premier League move, with reports last summer suggesting that Sunderland had been monitoring his progress.

Whilst that link to Sunderland may not excite Liverpool fans, it is undeniable that Zappacosta’s game has developed in the months since those rumours.

The Italian report suggests that his form has also piqued the interest of Serie A duo Roma and Napoli, and that Torino will look to hold out for at least €15 million (£13 million) for the man who has become a key star in Turin.
