Liverpool are reportedly looking at a new attempt to sign Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell.

According to The Mirror, Liverpool hold an interest in signing Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell as they consider life after Alberto Moreno.

The Reds have Andrew Robertson as their first-choice left back, but Moreno looks set to leave the club on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Spaniard Moreno, a 2014 signing from Sevilla, is out of contract next summer, and with little reason to stay given his lack of first-team football, he looks set to move on.

Arsenal – managed by Moreno’s former Sevilla boss Unai Emery – are thought to be keen, and whilst Jurgen Klopp is looking for teenager Adam Lewis to make the step-up to cover for Robertson, a more senior target may be in mind.

The Mirror report that Liverpool have been keen on Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell for some time, and may well make a new move for the left back as a Moreno replacement next summer.

Chilwell, 21, was a target for Klopp in the summer of 2016, but a £7million bid was rejected according to The Telegraph, and it’s fair tos say that he would cost exponentially more in 2019.

Chilwell, a product of Leicester’s youth academy, has earned his first England call-up this season and impressed against Spain on Monday, meaning he may just be England’s first-choice left back moving forward.

A move to Liverpool may be a risk though, as he would be in direct competition with another promising young talent in Robertson, and there would be a real danger of him having to play second-fiddle to the Scot.
