Liverpool are reportedly leading the race for Sheffield United’s David Brooks.
According to TEAMtalk. Liverpool believe they are leading the race to sign Sheffield United youngster David Brooks, ahead of Merseyside rivals Everton.
Brooks, 20, started out in the youth ranks of Manchester City before moving on to Bramall Lane in 2014, and he has become a starlet with the Blades.
The playmaker has thrived in the Championship this season, notching two assists in nine appearances, though six of those have come as a substitute for Chris Wilder’s men.
A Welsh Under-21 international, Brooks looks set for the Premier League in the coming years, and interest from Premier League clubs is mounting ahead of the January transfer window.
The Telegraph reported over the summer that Everton wanted to sign Brooks, and with the Toffees understood to be still tracking the youngster, Liverpool have now joined the race.
TEAMtalk report that Liverpool scouts have given rave reviews having watched Brooks in action, and the Reds now believe they are leading the race for the playmaker’s signature in 2018.
It remains to be seen whether Liverpool make their move in January or next summer, but it seems that Jurgen Klopp’s men are keen to add Brooks, beating rivals Everton to his signature.
With fellow Welsh youngster Ben Woodburn already at the club, Liverpool will now hope that Brooks will join him at Anfield, giving Klopp another talented youngster to work with.
