Liverpool simply cannot afford to sign David Alaba from Bayern Munich, the Daily Mirror report.
In recent days there have been suggestions that Alaba has been offered a contract by Liverpool, with the Guardian saying the Reds have made contact with his representatives, as they look to sign him on a free transfer.
However, the latest update suggests that Alaba is just too expensive for the Reds to consider.
Although Liverpool wouldn’t have to pay a fee to sign the Austrian in the summer his wage demands mean that the transfer is out of reach for them.
That could be a disappointment, given Alaba’s status and ability, but it, perhaps, unsurprising.

Despite their success in recent times, Liverpool have been reluctant to offer the mammoth wages to potential transfer targets that some of their other rivals hand out.
Klopp once again played down Liverpool’s chances of signing a central defender this month, and it seems as the Reds may opt to stick by their current squad, despite their current injury problems.
