Luis Enrique is reportedly on the brink at the Nou Camp, so could Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp be the man to replace him.

According to the Daily Mirror, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is among a number of contenders being considered by Barcelona should they need to replace Luis Enrique in the near future.

By Barca’s standards, Enrique is enduring a torrid time at the Nou Camp. The Catalan giants are currently third in the La Liga table, four points adrift of Real Madrid who have also played a game less, and appear to be on the verge of exiting the Champions League at the first knockout stage having been stunned 4-0 in the first-leg of their last 16 tie with Paris Saint-Germain.

The Mirror suggests that the current boss is on the brink of leaving, and there is potentially a chance that the Barcelona hierarchy will look to Merseyside to fill the vacancy.

While Ronald Koeman’s inclusion on the shortlist will surprise few given his time with the club during his playing days, it is perhaps slightly more of a surprise to see Klopp listed as a potential candidate.

According to the Mirror, some of the movers and shakers at Barca are fans of the work Klopp has done, which could leave Liverpool with a fight on their hands to keep him over the coming months.

It would undoubtedly be a major blow to the Reds if they lose the German. There is a feeling – arguably not just at Anfield either – that he is really beginning to build something, much like he did when he took Borussia Dortmund to the brink of Champions League glory.

And replacing Klopp could be one of the toughest jobs in football for whoever would come in, especially as the maverick boss has already given Reds fans several glimpses of where they could go under his leadership.
