Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are reportedly determined to sign Perr Schuurs from Torino.

According to Tuttosport, Liverpool are interested in signing Perr Schuurs from Torino in the summer transfer window.

The report in the Italian publication has claimed that Liverpool have made a bid of €30 million (£25.75 million) for the 23-year-old Dutch centre-back.

Torino have turned it down.

Tuttosport have claimed that the Serie A club are looking for €40 million (£34.34 million) for Schuurs.

The report has claimed that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is a long-term admirer of the defender, and that Torino believe that the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners will make a new offer.

Napoli’s bid of €25m (£21.46m) plus €3m (£2.58m) add-ons for Schuurs has also been rejected, according to Tuttosport.

Should Liverpool bid again for Torino defender Perr Schuurs?

In our opinion, Liverpool should make a new and improved offer for Torino defender Perr Schuurs in the summer transfer window.

It seems that the Reds are only £8.58 million away from getting a deal done for the 23-year-old.

If Liverpool are genuinely keen on the former Ajax star and believe that he would make their defence better, then they should just pay the amount and get the deal done now.

Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen rates Schuurs highly and was hugely impressed by the defender when he was at Ajax.

Schuurs moved to Torino in the summer of 2022.

“(Schuurs) will be the new Matthijs de Ligt,” Owen told BT Sport (21 October, 10.30pm).

“He is still young, but what a body and what strength. He already reminds me a lot of De Ligt.

“Nice on the ball, aggressive and strong for his age. (Ajax) sold De Ligt for a lot of money but he can take over that role completely.”

Schuurs made 28 starts and two substitute appearances in Serie A for Torino last season, providing two assists in the process.
