Football site 90Min report that Liverpool are willing to make Mo Salah the club’s highest-paid player on £300,000 a week – but that figure is still £100,000 less than the attacker’s demands of a hefty £400,000 a week.

Salah, 29, is enjoying arguably his best season in Liverpool colours this season – with many pundits suggesting that he is the best player in world football at the moment. He has 28 goals, and 10 assists, in 38 games.

But the 82-time Egypt star is out of contract in June 2023 and a deal is yet to be announced. Talks have been ongoing for some time, but nothing has come to the fore. Now, 90Min have shed some light on the intricate details.

Indeed, they report that Liverpool are willing to make Salah the club’s top earner on £300,000 a week – £50,000 more than Virgil van Dijk. But Salah wants £400,000, taking him in line with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne.

New Salah deal: Liverpool might have to continue to compromise

The thought of having to wave goodbye to Salah is something Liverpool fans simply cannot comprehend. They cannot let the Anfield hero depart. Indeed, if a new deal is not agreed, this summer might see him go.

It will be the last chance Liverpool can get a decent fee for his services – if he does not sign a new deal. January 2023 will allow foreign clubs to approach him on a pre-contract basis, signing him on a free transfer.

If Liverpool are willing to offer £300,000, and Salah wants £400,000, then surely the two parties can find a compromise and agree a deal somewhere in the middle of that range. The two are perfect for eachother.
