Italian outlet CMW claim Liverpool have joined the race to sign Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic, as they look to bring in a replacement for Arthur – with his loan not going to plan. Arthur has only managed one senior Reds outing.
The 26-year-old joined Liverpool on loan on deadline day. It comes after the Reds had injuries to Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Curtis Jones, Thiago and Jordan Henderson all at the same time. The latter duo have ret urned.
But in the time all five were injured, Arthur only managed one senior outing. He has since been more prominent in the Under-21 team. He played an hour in an EFL Trophy loss to Rochdale, and 90 minutes in a PL2 win over Leicester.
The chances of a permanent deal being exercised are almost zero. Arthur is likely to go back to Juventus and could go as soon as January. But Liverpool still lack a midfielder, and CMW report that they are in the mix to sign Brozovic.
They will face competition from PSG, and Manchester United – as well as Tottenham. Earlier this week, CMW also said that Tottenham want to sign him. But having signed a new deal in the summer, Inter will only accept offers of £52m.

The Reds could do with a midfielder like Brozovic. Fabinho is renowned for his short passing, his positioning and his physicality – but not his transitional play or his creation. Jordan Henderson can do a bit of both, but is getting older.
He is also becoming more and more injury prone, while James Milner is only supposed to be a squad player. Thiago is superb in transition, excellent on the ball – but defensively, he does go missing. Brozovic can do it all.
He is a complete midfielder with huge experience. Still only 29, he has 450 appearances at club level and 76 caps for Croatia. Those kind of numbers for a player still in their twenties is utterly remarkable. He suits Liverpool to a tee.
