Liverpool have shown a real interest in signing Khephren Thuram but are now expected to back away from the Nice midfielder.
That is according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Liverpool have been tracking Thuram closely.
However, Liverpool are now not planning to proceed with a summer move for the French midfielder.
That stance comes despite strong rumours linking Thuram with a move to Anfield.
Foot Mercato reported in April that Liverpool were in love with Thuram and wanted to snap him up.
That report claimed that Nice wanted around €60million (£52million) for Thuram – pretty big money.
Maybe that is why Liverpool have decided to back away from the pursuit of Thuram.
Maybe Liverpool just prefer other options in midfield amid strong links with Brighton and Hove Albion star Alexis Mac Allister.
The Argentinian appears to be Liverpool’s top target after backing away from the race for Jude Bellingham.
Liverpool do need to add more midfielders even if Mac Allister joins, but it looks like Thuram won’t be one of them.

Khephren Thuram could still end up in the Premier League
Thuram – the son of former French international Lilian Thuram – has been superb for Nice this season.
The 22-year-old has been quality as a box-to-box midfield player and is a huge presence at around 6ft 4in tall.
Liverpool may not sign Thuram but he looks set to attract interest from elsewhere.
Foot Mercato’s report suggested that Manchester City are very keen on signing Thuram.
Pep Guardiola needs to bring in some more midfielders this summer, especially if Ilkay Gundogan leaves.
Thuram could be their man and that would open up the chances of him lining up against Liverpool next season and beyond.
City are also keen on the aforementioned Bellingham, but Liverpool backing away from Thuram means he could be a prime alternative.
