Liverpool and Tottenham reportedly want Russian ace Fedor Chalov.
According to The Mirror, Liverpool have joined Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign CSKA Moscow attacker Fedor Chalov this summer.
Chalov, 21, has come up through the CSKA ranks having been on the books since way back in 2006, and he’s now become a first-team star in Moscow.
The striker hit 17 goals and seven assists in 37 appearances last season, and he’s unsurprisingly attracting major interest off the back of those goals.
Liverpool are now thought to be keen, alongside Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, with the Premier League’s elite swarming him.
Liverpool have tied Divock Origi down to a new deal, and Rhian Brewster is coming through, so signing and out-and-out striker like Chalov may not make perfect sense right now.
However, he did a lot of his work at CSKA last season taking up positions on the left before moving infield, and his movement off the last defender is excellent.
That may give Jurgen Klopp some hope that he could use Chalov across the front line, which is what Liverpool need rather than a classic striker, though that may take some clever coaching.
At Tottenham, Chalov would likely serve as backup for Harry Kane, but if Mauricio Pochettino sticks with a midfield diamond and two strikers, the youngster may play some first-team football in a strike pairing – potentially making Spurs a more attractive proposition.
