Last season, Vitinha was mostly sat on the sidelines during a season-long loan at Wolves, as he wasn’t trusted to face the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham.

The 22-year-old returned to Porto after the Premier League club decided not to activate their £18m option to buy.

Now, that looks like a huge error, as Jürgen Klopp and Antonio Conte circle.

What’s the story?

Well, according to O Jogo, Liverpool want to sign the Portuguese maestro.

Elsewhere, it was Mercado Azul who revealed that Spurs are keen on the youngster, who Deco once called a “remarkable” footballer.

Now, thanks to Defensa Central, we know how much they’ll need to pay – it’s a lot more than the £18m option Wolves turned down.

The Spanish news outlet – who add that Real Madrid are also interested – believe those keen to sign Vitinha must pay €40m (£34m) for the privilege.

So far this season, the Santo Tirso-born playmaker has made 38 appearances in all competitions, recording three goals and three assists.

Liverpool and Tottenham should wait

In our view, Liverpool and Tottenham should wait before spending £34m on Vitinha.

While he’s clearly a talented player, there must’ve been a reason why Wolves were so reluctant to throw him into Premier League action.

There are many players who performed incredibly in other leagues, but struggled in the Premier League – such as Radamel Falcao.

Therefore, Liverpool and Tottenham should wait before spending £34m on the midfielder, as he may just be a flash in the pan.

Only time will tell if Wolves really did make a big mistake in letting him go.
