According to Foot Mercato, Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly wants a move to the Premier League despite interest from Paris Saint-Germain.
It’s claimed that PSG would like Koulibaly to join as a replacement for Thiago Silva. The Brazilian ace is set to leave the club this summer when his contract expires.
However, Koulibaly would prefer a move to England, where two clubs are leading the way. Liverpool and Newcastle United have been the two sides most strongly linked.
Tuttomercatoweb recently claimed that Liverpool want Koulibaly, with the idea of pairing him with Virgil van Dijk. That would cost a huge sum though, and it’s hard to see the Reds splashing the cash.
Meanwhile, Sky Sports claim that Newcastle’s owners-to-be want Koulibaly, in a deal worth around £70million. Additionally, Le10 Sport note that they’re willing to pay him £200,000-a-week if he makes the move.

If Newcastle’s big takeover goes though, then they would be a much more likely destination than Liverpool. The Reds are unlikely to make big-money moves this summer, and with Koulibaly nearly 29, he doesn’t exactly fit the Liverpool mould.
Newcastle would have big money to spend, and whilst they don’t have European football, they could give the Senegal star a big contract into his 30’s – something which should appeal.
