Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United do not want to pay €80 million (£69 million) for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount.
The Italian journalist has told GiveMeSport that Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal all want to sign Mason Mount from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
The reporter has claimed that the Blues want €80 million (£69 million) in transfer fees for the England international midfielder.
However, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United do not want to pay that much for the 24-year-old, described as “tenacious” by former Chelsea player Tony Cascarino in The Times last week.
Romano said: “Manchester United will be there, but there is a problem and that is the price tag because Chelsea are asking for not less than €80million.
“All the clubs involved – Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal – are interested in Mount, but they feel that is way too much.”
What should Liverpool and Manchester United do about Mason Mount?
In our view, if Liverpool and Manchester United are really keen on Mason Mount, then they should pay the €80 million (£69 million) that Chelsea are looking for.
Mount is 24 now, and he is only going to improve and develop in the coming years.
The midfielder is a regular in the Chelsea team and is a UEFA Champions League winner with the Blues.
Mount knows the Premier League inside out and is a very dynamic midfielder who can hold his own in the middle of the park and drive the team forward.
Liverpool need a midfielder like Mount, while Manchester United would be a better team with the Chelsea star in it.
