The Dutchman arrived at Southampton from Celtic in the summer of 2015 with a strong reputation.

The 25-year-old has enhanced that reputation, and it should not come as a surprise if he moves to a top-four club in the Premier League in the January transfer window.

Liverpool are struggling defensively, and signing a player of Van Dijk’s quality is going to make Jurgen Klopp’s side better at the back.
