A report claims Liverpool and Manchester City are taking an interest in the Manchester United left-back, though the Red Devils are reluctant to sell to a rival.
Manchester United’s Luke Shaw
Liverpool and Manchester City are taking an interest in Manchester United outcast Luke Shaw, according to The Mirror.
Both clubs are in need of new left-backs, with midfielder James Milner spending much of the campaign there for Liverpool and Gael Clichy out of contract at Manchester City.
And Shaw, who has played just 16 times in all competitions this season, looks set to leave Old Trafford in the coming months after he was publicly criticised by manager Jose Mourinho this week.
Prising the 21-year-old away from United could be easier said than done, however, with the Red Devils said to be reluctant to do business with their local rivals.
The Sun reported earlier this week that Shaw is keen on a reunion with Mauricio Pochettino, his former Southampton boss, at Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs, though, are currently well-stocked in the England international’s position, with Danny Rose and Ben Davies sharing responsibilities this season.
Both City and United have been linked with moves for Rose over the past few months, however, The Mirror reports the Lilywhites are seeking £50 million to part with the Yorkshireman.
Tottenham’s Danny Rose
Shaw’s former Saints teammates Adam Lallana, Nathaniel Clyne and Dejan Lovren are all currently on Liverpool’s books.
Could Liverpool or Manchester City really sign Shaw from Manchester United?
