Everton and Liverpool will send scouts to watch Leon Bailey in Saturday’s DFB Pokal final between Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich and, according to Sky Sports, the winger could be available for as little as £20 million.

For avid Bundesliga fanatics, the ongoing rumours linking this fleet-footed Jamaican with a big-money move to England seem a little odd.

Bailey might have established himself as one of Europe’s hottest young attackers in 2017/18 but, since then, those explosive displays and long-range wondergoals have dried up somewhat.

He has been overshadowed by the ethereal Kai Havertz and the scorching Moussa Diaby at Leverkusen and, tellingly, he is not even a guaranteed member of Peter Bosz’s first XI these days.

Just 12 of his 22 Bundesliga appearances across 2019/20 came from the start.

Regardless, Bailey’s raw talent and vast potential means the former Genk talisman still has plenty of suitors, including Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton.

Sky claims that the Merseyside giants, as well as both Manchester United and City, will watch the 22-year-old in action as Bayer look to escape their ‘Neverkusen’ nickname against a steamrollering Bayern side in this weekend’s cup final.

Interestingly, Bailey does have a history with Liverpool and Everton.

“Manchester United, City, Chelsea, Liverpool – a lot of clubs were interested,” he told FourFourTwo in when asked to explain why he choose Leverkusen over the Premier League.

Everton, meanwhile, wanted him in in 2017 when Bailey was still racing past full-backs for a living in Belgium (Mail).
