Liverpool and Everton are interested in signing Gustavo Viera, according to The Sun.

It has been reported by the British tabloid that the Premier League duo are eyeing a move for the 16-year-old.

Viera is a talented and promising young footballer who is on the books of Liverpool in Uruguay at the moment.

According to The Sun, scouts from Liverpool and Everton have tracked the youngster, who has been playing for his country’s Under-17 national side.

Spanish giants Barcelona are also reported to be interested in the youngster.

“Viera has boosted his reputation with goals in Liverpool’s youth team and has been training with their first team,” adds the report in The Sun.

“He is seen as a star of the future in South America but could move if Liverpool choose to cash in early.”

Given Viera’s age, it seems that both Liverpool and Everton (reportedly) consider him as part of their respective long-term plans.

The 16-year-old is unlikely to break into the first team at the Reds or the Toffees anytime soon, but he could prove to be an asset and could develop into a top footballer.

Liverpool are second in the Premier League table at the moment with 27 points from 12 matches, just a point behind leaders Chelsea.

Everton are currently seventh in the standings with 19 points from 12 games, six points behind fourth-placed Arsenal.
