Newcastle United now reportedly face competition for Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Yves Bissouma with Liverpool and Tottenham in the race for the Mali international.
According to the Sunday Mirror (13/02: page 74), the Reds and Antonio Conte’s side are keen on signing the Premier League star, yet Newcastle remain the favourites to land the 25-year-old based on the impending appointment of Dan Ashworth.
The former Brighton transfer guru is expected to join the Magpies in the coming days, and despite the stature and prestige of Liverpool and Tottenham, this Newcastle move could make the Toon the favourites to land Bissouma.
The midfielder was linked with a summer exit all of last year, with Liverpool and the likes of Arsenal and Aston Villa rumoured with Bissouma, who Brighton reportedly value at £45m.
And this upcoming window could finally see the Mali international depart the south coast club, with three teams now eyeing Bissouma in what could be an intense battle between Liverpool, Newcastle and Tottenham for the 25-year-old.
Indeed, Newcastle do have an edge with Ashworth set to join the club, however, the pull of Liverpool and Tottenham could be a major blow for the northeast side, who might struggle to sign Bissouma.
Newcastle have to go big to beat Liverpool & Tottenham to Bissouma

Bissouma could be one of the most sought-after Premier League players in the summer window, and with Newcastle likely to make moves in the summer to bring the midfielder to St. James Park
However, with two big clubs in Liverpool and Tottenham now interested in Bissouma, Newcastle will have to put the money where their mouth is if they are to lure the Premier League star to the northeast.
