Liverpool and Arsenal are set to battle it out for the German’s signature this summer, according to reports.

Schalke's midfielder Max Meyer looks on during the German first division Bundesliga football match Schalke 04 vs Hertha Berlin in Gelsenkirchen, western Germany, on March 3, 2018.

According to a report from Italian media outlet Tutto Mercato Web, Liverpool and Arsenal are set to battle it out for the signature of Max Meyer, who is a free agent this summer, but both have been shocked by the German’s salary demands.

Both the Reds and the Gunners have already been busy during this summer’s transfer window, but their business seems to be far from finished.

Liverpool and Arsenal both need another attacking player to supplement their respective forward lines, and Meyer could be just the ticket.

Italian publication Tutto Mercato Web claims that the Premier League clubs are set to battle it out for the German’s signature, although they have been put off by his £85,000 per week wage demands.

Meyer is a real talent, though, and could turn out to be well worth that money, if he reaches the level that he is capable of.
