According to The Times, Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Birmingham City talent Calum Scanlon.

It’s claimed that the Reds have now had a bid accepted for the 15-year-old, with Liverpool paying just shy of £500,000.

Scanlon and his family are thought to be considering the move now, but it seems that the Reds are on the verge of landing their man.

Capable of playing at left back or in midfield, Scanlon looks to be set for a move to Merseyside, where he will join the impressive Liverpool ranks.

Homegrown talents like Curtis Jones, Neco Williams and Rhys Williams have emerged into first-team reckoning, and Scanlon will no doubt want to do the same.

It’s a little soon for that at just 15, but paying a six-figure fee at least suggests that Liverpool see him as a real talent to develop over the coming years.

Birmingham have a decent record with young talent, and not only with Jude Bellingham. Jack Butland, Demarai Gray and Nathan Redmond have also become Premier League players having come through with the Blues.

Scanlon has plenty of inspiration to make himself a star at Liverpool, and as an England youth international, this looks to be an exciting addition for the Reds as they build for the future.
