Liverpool have had a bid accepted for Fluminense goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga and the youngster is set to travel to England before signing a three-year contract with the Premier League champions, according to Globo Esporte.
The present is shaping up nicely for Liverpool fans but, behind the scenes, arguably the most feared football team in England is working hard to ensure the future is just as bright.
Since the summer of 2019, Liverpool have snapped up some of the most coveted teenagers in the game, including Harvey Elliott and one-time Bayern Munich target Sepp van der Berg.
And, by this time next week, the Reds might also count an exciting South American shot-stopper as one of their own.
Liverpool believe Pitaluga can be the heir apparent to fellow Brazilian Alisson Becker at Anfield and, after agreeing a £2 million deal with Fluminense, the youngster will board a flight to Merseyside.
He is expected to sign a contract until 2023.

Interestingly, Globo Esporte adds that to sweeten the deal Liverpool have offered Pitaluga a pay rise while his father, who will travel to England along with the rest of his family, will be offered a job in the city.
Pitaluga also has a German passport, which will help Liverpool avoid potential work permit problems.
What this means for the other young shot-stoppers on the club’s books, including Caoimhin Kelleher and Kamil Grabara, remains to be seen.
Pitaluga should be thrilled about the prospect of working under a coach who has transformed Trent Alexander-Arnold, Sadio Mane, Robert Lewandowski and more into world superstars.
