Liverpool are ‘adamant’ on selling Xherdan Shaqiri this summer for a fee despite no bids yet to be lodged for the attacker.
According to Sky Sports News, the Reds want £12.75m for the 98-cap Swiss international.
However, finding an interested club is proving to be difficult for Jurgen Klopp’s side. Shaqiri has two years left on his contract with Liverpool.
Sevilla, Napoli and now Villarreal, where former Reds teammate Alberto Moreno currently plays, are all eager on Shaqiri. But, no side are yet to submit an offer for the 29-year-old winger.
Shaqiri hardly featured for Liverpool last campaign as the former Stoke City star continued his status as a bench player for the Merseyside club.
Indeed, with the winger’s deal ending in 2023, it makes sense why the Reds are keen to offload Shaqiri this window.
Liverpool have formed an impressive reputation over the years for offloading players for impressive fees.
And although Shaqiri is a player of immense talent and quality on his day, selling him will be a challenge for the club.
The Swiss attacker is hitting the peak of his career, yet with a lack of first-team football over the past two seasons, Shaqiri might be viewed as an unattractive and expensive option for clubs this window.
The Reds will have to work their magic if they’re to sell the winger this summer.
But with Liverpool working similar miracles over the years, there’s a good chance that the club will find a suitable buyer for Shaqiri this window.
