Liverpool play host to Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

According to a report from the Mirror, Dejan Lovren has visited a strength and conditioning coach in Croatia, as he faces a race against time to be fit for his side’s Champions League clash with Bayern Munich on Tuesday night.
The Reds already have a multitude of injury problems in the defensive department, with Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold both currently out.
Lovren, 29, hasn’t played since January 7th, after he suffered a hamstring injury against Wolves in the FA Cup, and Jürgen Klopp will be desperate to have the Croatian back and available for selection.
The former Southampton man hasn’t always been the most popular figure at Anfield, but he really has been superb for Liverpool this season.
Coming up against the mighty Bayern Munich, the Merseyside outfit will need to be incredibly tight at the back, and having Lovren back would be a huge boost.

Whilst that seems unlikely at present, the Mirror claims that the centre-back has gone the extra yard this week in a bid to be fit in time for Tuesday, by travelling to Croatia to visit a strength and conditioning coach.
If Lovren doesn’t prove his fitness in time, however, Klopp will have to make do with Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk in central defence…so it’s not all bad.
