Aston Villa are the latest club to be credited with interest in Hibernian’s £5million-rated midfielder John McGinn – despite their bleak financial situation.
The Daily Record reports that Villa boss Steve Bruce is looking north of the border for bargains as the Championship side prepare to make ‘swingeing cuts’ after missing out on promotion.

And the newspaper adds that the Villans should still have the funds to ‘test Hibs’ resolve’, with players like Jack Grealish – who is ‘expected to be sold for £30million’ – moving on.
The Daily Record notes that Bruce has had past success with players signed from Scottish football – notably Andrew Robertson, the now Liverpool left-back, at Hull City – and has received positive reports on McGinn from Aston Villa players past and present, Robert Snodgrass and Alan Hutton.

Sunderland, Celtic and Rangers have also been linked with moves for the 23-year-old, who has a year left on his contract at Easter Road.
Would McGinn be a good signing for Aston Villa?
