According to L’Equipe, Lille are hoping to offload winger Anwar El Ghazi this summer once his loan spell at Aston Villa comes to an end.

Lille have enjoyed a superb season this term, and are set for a return to Champions League, which means a host of their key players are attracting interest.

However, some fringe players won’t be coming along for the ride, and L’Equipe outline their plans to offload a number of players who don’t have a future at the club.

Fares Bahlouli, Imad Faraj, Junior Alonso and Yassine Benzia are all on the chopping block, as is winger El Ghazi, who is currently on loan at Aston Villa.

El Ghazi, 23, joined Lille from Ajax in January 2017, and scored six goals in 44 games before being farmed out to Villa just over 18 months after his arrival.

The Dutch winger – who was sent off against Leeds today – was lured to Villa by Steve Bruce, and has racked up five goals and six assists in 31 Championship outings this season.

Bruce isn’t in charge anymore though, and Dean Smith will now have a decision to make on whether to pursue El Ghazi on a permanent basis.

He appears to be available, but his inconsistency may leave Smith wondering whether he’s worth keeping at the club – or whether to send him back to Lille, where he won’t be wanted.
