According to Footmercato, Lille are rivalling West Ham United for defender Sven Botman as a replacement for reported Arsenal and Everton target Gabriel Magalhaes.

Gabriel is seemingly set to depart Lille this summer amid huge interest from abroad.

Everton have been pursuing Gabriel for some time now. The Guardian noted two week ago that The Toffees had made progress in their attempts to sign him for £30 million.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are looking at a left-sided centre-back.

A report last week by L’Equipe claimed Gabriel has offers from Arsenal and Everton on the table. However, the defender is edging towards a move to Napoli.

With Lille apparently accepting their star defender is on the verge of leaving, the French club have turned to Botman as a replacement but face West Ham competition.

The 6ft 4inch Ajax defender has spent the campaign on loan at Heerenveen.

Botman, 20, has shown plenty of promise and Lille are making their move quickly.

Footmercato claims there is an agreement for Botman to move to France. However, the French club are first waiting for Gabriel to depart, leaving the deal wide open.

West Ham have secured their Premier League status with a fine run of form. Going forward the Hammers are clicking, but at the back they still look vulnerable.

David Moyes may target a new fullback and centre-back addition this summer. Botman is reportedly in their sights, while Watford are also named as suitors.
