The Scottish defender appears to be sticking around at Leeds for the time being.
Leeds United’s Liam Cooper
Leeds United have reportedly handed Liam Cooper a contract extension, although did so under the radar during the summer, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
Leeds have been known to exercise contract renewals without a song and dance in the past and it appears that Cooper is the latest.

The YEP report that Cooper has signed a deal to extend his contract by a year during the summer – which will now keep the Scottish defender at Elland Road until 2018.
Of course this will sound familiar to a situation that involved Scott Wootton last season. His contract was reportedly extended for a year but when the summer rolled around it turned out that was not the case and he was released. He has since joined League One side Milton Keynes Dons.

But it appears that Cooper will not be out of contract in the summer – which will no doubt please Leeds fans.
This is despite Cooper clearly losing his place in the Leeds first-team to the impressive Kyle Bartley and Pontus Jansson partnership.

But those two are still only loan players and Cooper is a more than able deputy when called upon. So hearing his future is secure will be welcomed by fans at Elland Road.
