Leeds United are due to take on Newcastle United at the weekend.

According to a report in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United midfielder Liam Bridcutt will not be fit for Garry Monk’s side’s next match against Newcastle United.

Leeds are set to take on Newcastle on Saturday, in front of a packed Elland Road crowd.

However, Bridcutt will play no part in the contest, with the midfielder continuing to recover from injury.

Leeds had hoped that Bridcutt would make it off the treatment table to feature against the Magpies, after fracturing a bone in his foot, but he is still not fit enough to join in with training.

Leeds are now short of options in central midfield, with Eunan O’Kane another doubt.

O’Kane has picked up a groin problem while representing the Republic of Ireland on international duty, and he is currently undergoing treatment at Leeds.

If Leeds are without Bridcutt and O’Kane, it could provide a chance for Matt Grimes, Luke Murphy or Kalvin Phillips to come into Monk’s line-up against Newcastle.

If Leeds can get the three points against the league leaders they will consolidate their place in the top six, and pick up their 10th win in their last 13 matches.
