According to the Daily Mail, Brighton and Hove Albion boss Graham Potter may not be heading to Tottenham Hotspur after all.

The London Evening Standard report that Tottenham could turn to Potter as their next manager having parted ways with Jose Mourinho last month.

They have missed on a few targets so far, with Julian Nagelsmann, Jesse Marsch and Erik ten Hag all slipping through the Tottenham net.

Daniel Levy must now scramble to find other targets, and Potter was thought to be one – but his chances of landing the job appear to be slim.

It’s suggested that Potter’s lack of experience at a major club is hampering his chances, with Levy wanting some form of experience at a high level.

Nagelsmann, Marsch and Ten Hag have all managed in the Champions League and challenged for major honours, whereas Potter hasn’t really done that yet.

That’s largely because he took a different path; he worked miracles as Ostersunds, guiding them into the Europa League and even beating Arsenal 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium.

Potter’s style of play at Brighton and Swansea City has been great to watch, and that’s what Tottenham are looking for after the – let’s be honest here – dire approach offered up by Mourinho.

Still, Potter – branded ‘the best English manager’ around by Pep Guardiola -would have to manage big-name players, and Levy may have concerns that he isn’t quite ready for such a big job.

If Levy does want a progressive coach to bring attractive football and develop young players, Potter could be the man – regardless of any concerns about his managerial history.
