Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy thinks that appointing Graham Potter would be a ‘gamble’, the Sun say, but he may take a risk on him.

Potter is one of the leading candidates to take over at Tottenham, and The Sun do suggest that he is on the club’s shortlist.

However, they claim that Levy has some reservations over making a move for the Brighton & Hove Albion coach.

They claim that Levy deems Potter to be a risky appointment, despite him being in contention.

Levy’s apparent reticence over getting Potter is understandable – despite the appeal of him.

The 46-year-old boss has never managed a club with Tottenham’s ambition or status before.

The work he has done at Brighton, Swansea City and Ostersunds has been highly impressive – but there may be questions over whether the calibre of player that Tottenham posses would respond as well to his methods.

If Potter can get Spurs playing in a similar style to his Brighton side – then his arrival would likely go down very well.

But with Tottenham heading backwards, they need a steadying hand, and a more experienced coach may just be a preferable option to Levy at this moment in time.

That being said, with other really appealing candidates thin on the ground, Tottenham’s options right now are fairly limited.

And the pros to Potter’s style may just convince Levy that the risk is worth taking, especially as the Sun claim he is a genuinely a possible candidate to takeover.
