According to The Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur have received a number of enquiries for winger Steven Bergwijn.
It’s claimed that the interested teams have made contact with Spurs about signing Bergwijn this summer, either on loan or permanently.
However, Daniel Levy has no intention of letting Bergwijn go less than 18 months after paying £27million to sign him from PSV Eindhoven, meaning an exit currently looks unlikely.
A key factor here is Jose Mourinho, who admitted that Bergwijn wasn’t a player he particularly wanted to sign in January 2020.
Mourinho had Bergwijn in his starting XI at the beginning of the season, but the Dutch wide man has barely been seen in recent times.
The 23-year-old hasn’t started a Premier League game since February, and wasn’t even in the squad to face Everton on Friday night.
Bergwijn has been completely out of favour under Mourinho, and there’s a chance his fortunes now change with Mourinho gone.
With Levy calling the shots, it doesn’t look like the winger will be going anywhere, and Tottenham will look to see if he can make an impact with the club’s next manager.
