Report: Levy now has come up with clever plan to try get Bale deal over the line for Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur could, rather remarkably, use Dele Alli in a swap deal to get Gareth Bale’s move over the line, the Telegraph say.

Tottenham are now pushing hard to sign Bale from Real Madrid and they have made good progress over potentially doing a deal.

If Spurs are to pull off the transfer then it could be a stunning swoop, but there are still obstacles to overcome.

Spurs need to find a way of financing Bale’s wages, even if they are heavily subsidised by Madrid.

Tottenham would be required to pay around £300,000-a-week of Bale’s salary, which would make him the club’s top earner, but Daniel Levy may have come up with a clever plan to get the transfer over the line.

Alli could be offered to Madrid, with the Spanish side paying all of his wages, while Spurs only contribute to around 50 per cent of Bale’s.

That would effectively mean that Tottenham’s wage bill would increase by £150,000-a-week which, while expensive, would be affordable.

Alli’s feelings about a switch to Madrid are currently unknown, but he could be keen for a fresh start.

Alli has struggled at Tottenham recently, and was hooked off at half-time in their first game of the season against Everton.
