According to The Evening Standard, Daniel Levy successfully managed to knock £1 million off the fee for Gareth Bale after the medical revealed he wouldn’t be available for a month.

Tottenham secured their former hero on a season-long loan deal from Real Madrid, along with a move for Sergio Reguilon from the Spanish giants.

The Evening Standard state in a separate report that they understand Spurs will pay under £15 million ‘all in’ to have the Wales international for a year, including wages and loan fees.

Elsewhere, the BBC have said that Tottenham will pay 40% of Bale’s wages, which are in excess of £600,000 a week.

It is an especially romantic deal given all that the four-time Champions League winner achieved in north London, winning the hearts of almost every Tottenham fan, we presume.

However, judging by the aforesaid, it isn’t a cheap deal by any means.

In that respect, Levy was very shrewd and efficient when getting Real Madrid to lower their stance on Bale, seeing as Tottenham wouldn’t be able to use their new player immediately.

In the grand scheme of things, it might only be £1 million.

However, Levy clearly cares about the financial wellbeing of the club enough to ensure that not a penny more than needed to be was spent on bringing the forward back to north London.
