The former QPR, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur striker is in line to replace Dan Ashworth.
Queens Park Rangers Director of Football Les Ferdinand has held initial talks with the FA about becoming the new technical director, reports West London Sport.
Ferdinand is a potential replacement for the outgoing Dan Ashworth, who is set to take on a similar role at Brighton & Hove Albion next year.
Ferdinand has been DOF at Loftus Road since 2015 and has overseen a number of changes in that time, including managerial appointments and implementing a youth strategy to get more graduates into the first-team.
From a QPR perspective, Ferdinand’s possible departure will allow the Championship club to reassess the role as fans often see it as a surplus position. Many supporters fail to see what Ferdinand brings to the table so a fresh start for both parties can prove beneficial.
If the FA do land their man, it’ll be interesting to see how Ferdinand fairs as he has always been committed to making his QPR role a success although some fans might disagree.
Ferdinand enjoyed some of his best years as a player with QPR and scored an impressive 80 goals in all competitions before a big-money move to Newcastle United in 1995.
