According to Sky Sports, Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey is desperate for a move to the Premier League before the transfer window closes.
It’s claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are particularly keen to sign Bailey, whilst Everton are also interested.
The problem may come with the asking price, as Leverkusen want around £40million for the Jamaican winger.
That’s a huge profit on the £12.5million they paid to sign Bailey from Genk in January 2017, and it’s no shock that they’re reluctant to sell.
Leverkusen have lost Kai Havertz to Chelsea and Kevin Volland to Monaco, meaning they’re unsurprisingly not looking to sell another attacker.
Bailey, 23, bagged seven goals and three assists last season, playing predominantly as a left-sided winger, with his blistering pace a constant threat.
Bailey could slot in on the right flank for Spurs, but do they really need another winger right now? They already have Son Heung-min, Lucas Moura, Steven Bergwijn and Erik Lamela, with Jose Mourinho facing bigger problems than his wide players.
Everton utilised James Rodriguez on the right and Richarlison on the left of a front three on Sunday, meaning it’s hard to immediately see where Bailey could play – but if Carlo Ancelotti wants more speed, Bailey could well be a realistic option.
