Watford reportedly want around £30 million for Troy Deeney, which is a price West Bromwich Albion are currently unwilling to pay.
According to a report from the Express and Star, Leicester City’s rejected bid for Watford striker Troy Deeney has actually put West Brom off following up on their interest at this current time.
The Express and Star reports that the Foxes saw a £20 million opening bid rejected by the Hornets as they hold out for the £30 million that would trigger his £25 million release clause and ensure that Watford receive around that amount after Walsall receive their 20 per cent sell-on fee.

That fact has left Tony Pulis much more hesitant about pursuing a deal for the 29-year-old, despite the fact that the Express and Star reports that Deeney is the Baggies’ number one target up front.
But with Salomon Rondon, Hal Robson-Kanu and now Jay Rodriguez available up front, the Express and Star adds that Pulis plans to turn his attention to bolstering his options at centre-back, seemingly leaving a move for Deeney in some doubt currently.
Of course, the nature of the transfer window means that it would be foolish to rule out West Brom making the kind of bid later on in the summer that they never expected themselves to make at this stage.
But with Deeney turning 30 next year and boasting 23 goals across his two Premier League seasons – which is still a very impressive total – West Brom supporters may be pleased that the club are currently planning to avoid making a £30 million bid for the forward.
